Our courses
For Adult Courses see The Heart of England Language School www.heartengland.org.uk

Methodology
We teach in a natural way and you learn through speaking, this is called the Communicative Method which is how most of our courses are structured. We use task and topic based exercises, information exchanges, debating and discussions, drama, craft, art and cookery. You will work in small groups, in pairs or individually. You can practise your English pronunciation, intonation and accent in a natural environment. Most classes focus on fluency, giving you a practical understanding of the language and how to use it. You will use the 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
Teachers
Our teachers are all professional and friendly and can help you expand on lesson topics helping you to increase your vocabulary, work on your grammar, improve your sentence construction and allow you to express yourself in the correct way. Our teachers aim to make sure that you learn as much as possible in a short time. They are there to help you reach your full potential and we do that by really getting to know you. Our teachers provide useful and interesting lessons, all of which are taught in a fun and relaxed way. Your teachers will guide you, support you, build your confidence and give you feedback. Our teachers are all native speakers so you will be able to listen to authentic and different accents.
Lessons
There is no substitute for practice. The more you practise listening and speaking the easier it gets and the more your confidence improves. We can help you with this by:
1. Our school is not in an area where there are lots of foreign speakers so you will have maximum exposure to natural and useful language.
2. We have activity programmes that encourage use of language outside the classroom. We offer free student support sheets for all our excursions.
3. Your home-stay family will encourage and help you to speak English.
4. We offer a library of materials to take home to practise the English learnt in class and encourage students to read to learn and practise new vocabulary and grammar structure.
5. Student social evenings help you to learn about and enjoy your new surroundings and make friends.
Our lessons are designed to be relaxed and fun. This will help you to feel more confident using English and you will learn to love speaking English.
We are a small school which does not have any one dominant nationality. A good mix of nationalities is important to help maximise your learning experience. It is also wonderful to have a chance to meet people from all over the world.
Courses for Juniors 5 – 11 year olds (Primary age)
Children learn easily and confidently at this age. They do not feel self conscious or intimidated by second languages. They learn native pronunciation quickly and are comfortable gaining speaking skills through songs, games and craft work suited to their level of maturity.
Lesson content
The students will be taught through structured games, craft and song which enable the students to pick up the language in a natural and relaxing environment. The teachers use methods and materials to suit the age, maturity and interest of the child. The lessons do not include structured grammar instruction but focus on building language naturally.

We use debates, discussions, role plays, drama, quizzes, information exchanges to help extend vocabulary and practice grammar structures. Students are taught through activities involving pair work, small group and large group exercises.

The students will be taught through structured conversation, communication games and activities which enable them to pick up the language in a natural and relaxing environment. For this age group English must be fun. We work on teaching the students through building confidence in the language with drama, role play, communication games and competitions.
